Tigi curls rock

We have only recently started this Blog and I have a stack of products & tools that have needed writing about for a long time. I have mentioned curls rock in other articles but, It deserves its own article, I talk about it with my curly haired clients like it is water and they are in the desert. I depend on it when I have to style curly hair (which is often thanks to the amount of nice things my curly customers have posted on sites like www.naturallycurly.com

I have introduced it to people that have used many curl products and think they have found the one. I use it and they buy it, coming back again and again. The Tigi range is huge and Curls Rock Amplifier is on the top of the pile. Not sure about the Shampoo and Conditioner though.

Lighten Up

Chloe Spring Summer 2007 nude make-up

Spring has finally arrived so it’s time to get out of that heavy make-up you’ve been wearing all winter.

Luckily for those of you who don’t like the neons that are everywhere at the minute, the other hot new trend for make-up this season is the barely-there nude look as seen on beautiful models at Chloe, Akris and Bottega Veneta.

Unsurprisingly the look is easy to achieve - just follow my simple guide below!
Make sure your skin is buffed up and well moisturized and you’re in natural light. Keep base to a minimal, light application using your fingers or brush.

For eyes dust a little translusent powder from lid to brow then try Chanel’s Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Beige from lid to brow. On your eyelid wash a taupe eyeshadow such as Chanel Soft Touch in Safari, blend well then smudge a little brown or black eyeliner in to top lashes and soften edges with a cotton bud (makes lashes look thicker). Curl lashes, dab mascara wand on a tissue to take away excess mascara and zig zag from root to tip, combing through so to avoid clumps.
Do a half smile and pat a cream blush in to apples of cheeks, blend until you get that healthy glow. Keep lips bare with a little Darphin lip balm.

It’s time we talked about The Bird and the Bee…

The bird and the bee live

While Lily Allen’s army of teenybopping fans may not have appreciated the charming sounds of up and coming L.A. band The Bird and the Bee, anyone who was at her Hammersmith Apollo gig on Monday night and born before 1985 was probably delighted by their performance as her support act.

I loved Inara George’s beautiful vocals and quirky style, even the twee backing singers rocked it for me especially when they started doing their little robot dance!
Their debut single “F*cking Boyfriend” is out on Monday.

Alright still…

Lily Allen live at Hammersmith Apollo, London

When my friend Natasha Lavattiata, a journo, had press tickets to see Lily Allen on Monday night I jumped at the chance - we all know how much I love a freebie.

I’ve met Lily afew times in person as she is a loyal client of Michael’s but had never seen her perform live before.

The venue was packed and as you would expect full of teens. It’s been ages since I was surrounded by so many kids, I’ve never felt so old!

Still, in today’s culture of manufactured celebrities and pop bands it’s refreshing to see such a young star openly apologise to being “pissed” on stage, happily smoking fags whilst singing her hit tunes and saying “up yours” to politicians and George Dubya Bush even if some might call her a rebel without a cause.

We love her outspoken ways! Go Lily!

All hail the Parlux 3200

Parlux 3200

I had to write about this essential bit of kit. I realised how much I (lets not get it twisted) LOVE this tool. On a recent trip to New York I stupidly overlooked the power difference and plugged in my 3200, fired it up and out of it came a dreary breeze. The horror was written all over my face, In a desperate effort to quell my suffering, Noella (The model) who happened to live two blocks away, offered to nip back and fetch hers for me. “Is it a Parlux 3200?” I asked “No, but it is very good” she replied. Pah! I doubt it – went through my mind hence I opted for my contingency duel voltage GHD’s and winged it with great success like a pro.

When people come to work along side us at Unruly whipping out ANY other hairdryer I am intrigued to find out if it is better. Which has never been the case so far. (more…)
