I just wanted to share this with you, firstly because it’s a proper tune (I rocked this daily as a 9-year-old) and secondly because the late Jermaine Stewart illustrates perfectly the dangers of too much hair straightening.

Buns are back. Not the currant kind, or the kind that fill out the back of your Leslie Crowthers, but the hair kind that look good on grannies and better on supermodels. Whether you want to give them a go or not is entirely your call, but the bun in 2010 is a pretty much anything-goes affair – loose and pinned, or just twisted round (a la Diaz, below) - easy to create and to pull off. For a sleeker, red carpet look come to the salon for a professional job.

I’d been saying it for some time (3 years to be precise) - Kate Moss needed to update her hair and at last she has……with a erm…..fringe!
Sure it looks great but come on Kate, you’re supposed to be a leader not a follower! We’ve been rocking this look since 2006 baby!

Ok so summer’s over and it’s not just your skin that’s in abit of a state after all that over frying you did in Ibiza. Your hair needs abit of love too you know.
We tried out Soy Tri-Wheat Conditioner by Sexy Hair, a super cool hair range hot from California. A spray leave-in conditioner made from yep, you guessed it soy protein. Soy delivers ultimate strength and moisture to rebuild the hair, restore its shiny, healthy appearance, and keep it looking great.
A great way to detangle that frazzled post holiday hair.

That was the question on everyone’s lips when Lily Allen stepped out at the LG Shine Launch Party on Brick Lane last week.
Can you guess who is responsible for her sleek jet black locks?

The images of gravity defying hair and a beauty story which makes even me want to have make-up like an extreme version of Robert Palmers backing singers are stunning. Its a shame this fab mag only comes out twice a year….. My advice is check out VOLT

We have only recently started this Blog and I have a stack of products & tools that have needed writing about for a long time. I have mentioned curls rock in other articles but, It deserves its own article, I talk about it with my curly haired clients like it is water and they are in the desert. I depend on it when I have to style curly hair (which is often thanks to the amount of nice things my curly customers have posted on sites like www.naturallycurly.com
I have introduced it to people that have used many curl products and think they have found the one. I use it and they buy it, coming back again and again. The Tigi range is huge and Curls Rock Amplifier is on the top of the pile. Not sure about the Shampoo and Conditioner though.

I had to write about this essential bit of kit. I realised how much I (lets not get it twisted) LOVE this tool. On a recent trip to New York I stupidly overlooked the power difference and plugged in my 3200, fired it up and out of it came a dreary breeze. The horror was written all over my face, In a desperate effort to quell my suffering, Noella (The model) who happened to live two blocks away, offered to nip back and fetch hers for me. “Is it a Parlux 3200?†I asked “No, but it is very good†she replied. Pah! I doubt it – went through my mind hence I opted for my contingency duel voltage GHD’s and winged it with great success like a pro.
When people come to work along side us at Unruly whipping out ANY other hairdryer I am intrigued to find out if it is better. Which has never been the case so far. (more…)

I am often asked to comment and write about curly hair. While my Salon is the home to many talented all-round hairstylists, I have been acknowledged as a curly hair specialist. At first I was unaware of any particular special skills with curly hair but of late I have began to understand why this might be the case.
Curly hair is wicked! I love it. I love cutting it and styling it. Once upon a time (before balding kicked in as a teen) I had it, lots of it. My mother has it and my bro and granddad have fro’s. I have an ex who had it. All this curly hair around me and it was not until the last three of my twelve years that I have understood it. Now I enjoy cutting and styling curls but perhaps most of all I enjoy offering advice on it. (more…)
